Note: All image manipulation, cropping, sizing, and web optimization must be done prior to uploading an image into Drupal! This may be done in an image program such as Adobe Photoshop. If you are not sure how to prepare an image for web, do not upload it. Instead, contact Arts & Sciences Computing for help by calling ATS at (314) 935-8077 or by visiting the HDW lab in Eads 007.
Also, before uploading any kind of file, make sure you have named it correctly. File names should use only lowercase letters, dashes, underscores, and numbers – no special characters, no spaces, no punctuation, and no uppercase letters. We recommend that you name files in a consistent fashion since most files for a site will be located in a handful of folders on the server. All file extensions should also be lowercase, and all photographs should have the extension '.jpg'.
Images and files may be uploaded in a number of ways. Some content types have image fields (e.g. the person and home page content types). Images uploaded into these fields should be the size indicated in the comments for the field. Once the node is submitted, the image will be positioned by the template for that content type.

To upload an image into an image field, click the 'Browse' button. Select the image to be uploaded from your local computer. Click 'Upload.' When you have finished creating or updating the node, remember to click the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page. (Your changes will not be saved until you do.)
Some content types may allow content administers to attach files. These files are displayed in a table-like format at the bottom of the node and may or may not be available to anonymous users.

To attach a new file, click 'Browse'. Select the file to upload from your local computer. Then click 'Attach'.
The file will appear in a list below the upload area. You may choose to list the file publically or not by clicking the list checkbox next to the file. By default, the description field is populated with the file name. However, you may change this to whatever text you would like to use for the link to the file when it is displayed to visitors.
Again, make sure to remember to click the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page when you have finished creating or editing the node.
